SFA Community Softball Clinics

A proposal for minico Strikers

Proposed Dates: Friday May 8th-Sunday May 10th

This proposal outlines three days of softball clinics designed to support the development of local 10U, 12U & 14U players including:

  • 2 hitting clinics Friday - $25/session* **

    • 2-3pm (12U)

    • 3-4pm (10U)

    • 4-5pm - Intro to pitching

    • 6-7:30pm (Development 11-14 yrs old)

  • 3 community youth defensive clinics Saturday - $40/session* **

    • 9-11:30am (Performance 13-15 years old): Built for players with competitive experience who are ready to learn and practice advanced skills.

    • 12-2:30pm (Development 11-13 years old): Designed for players with some experience.

    • 3:30-5:30pm (Foundations 8-11 years old): Perfect for new or newer players.

  • Intro to pitching clinic: Friday 2:30-3:30 - Bring your own catcher - $20/session* **

  • Advanced private pitching lessons with Jenna Davenport (up to 2 players of similar skill level): Sunday 1-hour slots from 8-11am - $40/player

  • Advanced small group hitting or defensive session (max of 3-4 players): Sunday 1-hour slots from 8-11am - $20/player

*If the Striker program can cover $1,250 for travel expenses (Includes car/gas to transport gear, plus hotel and food), I can waive fees for members of the Minico Striker program. We will provide a link for registration and discount codes for team members.

Descriptions

Hitting clinics:

  • Batting fundamentals

  • Timing and contact point

  • Mental approach and mindset

  • Offensive strategy and hitting objectives

  • Drills to practice on your own

Defensive clinics include:

Clinics will focus on fundamental skill development, situational awareness, mindset training, and leadership development, while providing practical instruction players can use immediately. The goal is to provide high-quality instruction, meaningful reps, and a fun, engaging learning environment. Advanced sessions will challenge players with high-intensity drills that coaches can use in practices to maximize quality reps.

Specific skills include:

  • Throwing fundamentals: basics, quick release, dart throws, back-hand toss, flip toss, shovel toss and relays

  • Fielding ground balls: straight on, forehand, backhand, short-hops, outfield approaches, bunt approaches

  • Fly balls: fundamentals, drop step, hip turns, head turns, catching at the fence, and communication

  • Glovework and footwork from all infield positions for different situations

  • Receiving throws for force, double plays, pickles, bunts, dropped 3rd strike and tags at all bases

  • Defensive rotations and knowing where to move on every pitch

  • Situational awareness and defensive mindset

Intro to Pitching clinic:

This session will introduce players to the fundamentals of pitching including basics of the motion, warm up progression, and the best way to practice at home. It is intended for new or newer pitchers. **Please bring your own catcher and bucket if needed.

Private advanced pitching lessons:

Sign up for a one-hour private advanced pitching lesson with Jenna Davenport on Sunday. Only 3 slots available at 8, 9 or 10am.

Advanced small group hitting or defensive session:

Designed for 2-4 players max for one hour of additional reps on defense or hitting on Sunday morning from 8-11am. To be scheduled and grouped according to interest.
